August 17th, day 3 of Woodstock – was the most loaded day of them all.

Sly and the Family Stone 3:30 am – 4:20 am
The Who 5:00 am – 6:05 am Briefly interrupted by Abbie Hoffman.[44]
Jefferson Airplane 8:00 am – 9:40 am Joined onstage on piano by Nicky Hopkins.
Joe Cocker and The Grease Band 2:00 pm – 3:25 pm Played “With A Little Help From My Friends.”[45] After Joe Cocker’s set, a thunderstorm disrupted the events for several hours.
Country Joe and the Fish 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm Country Joe McDonald’s second performance.
Ten Years After 8:15 pm – 9:15 pm
The Band 10:00 pm – 10:50 pm

Around 10:30 pm listeners would have been enjoying The Band playing their most popular hit – The Weight.

The Band – Up On Cripple Creek

The Band is most well known for “The Weight,” but this is my favorite of theirs. It reminds me of my dad, I can remember him singing to The Band years back. It also reminds me of my hometown in Marlboro, OH.. I love this classic country rock vibe.
